Get down to business and check a core CEcD requirement off your list with IEDC's Business Retention and Expansion course in Baltimore, MD. This interactive course presents the core components of business retention and expansion (BRE) program, and why the concerns of local businesses need to be actively addressed with the scope of these programs. By building an understanding of business visitation techniques and survey methods, practitioners will be able to clearly gauge their community's business climate. Attendees will learn the "red flags" that may indicate a company is looking to move elsewhere, and how to structure an effective technical assistance program to respond to business concerns. This course helps participants understand how a BRE program relates to attraction, workforce development, small business finance, technology transfer, and many other economic development activities.
IEDC's Business Retention and Expansion course was both practical and meaningful. We immediately implemented a business walk similar to the one described as a case study during the course, and our organization eventually hired a business development coordinator to focus on BRE efforts. Additionally, I have been able to rely on the instructors as ongoing resources related to BRE and other topics.
